Is it possible to export the “report dynamics” data to a plain text file? Can I change the precision of the data that’s reported?
Yes. This functionality was originally added to Virtual CRASH 3 in 2017 update (see this KB post to learn how to export plain text data in Virtual CRASH 6/5/4). First, you can set the numerical precision of the dynamics report by going to the “report” menu in the left side control panel. Ensure that you have no actively selected objects from your environment in order to expose the report menu under properties. You can set the numerical precision up to 16 decimal places by using the “decimal places” feature shown below. Note, the "title", "legend", and "comment" input boxes are user options related to the print feature, which is accessed using the printer icon.
In order to create a dynamics report, simply expand the “report dynamics” menu in the left side control panel. Note, pressing the “create” button will generate an xml-based report window.
However, pressing “create text” will create a plain text version of the report (you can change the time increment by modifying the “time” value in report dynamics).
Press the save icon to save the text file. This file is saved with a .txt extension.
Now that you have the simulation data exported in .txt format, you can easily import your simulation data into third-party applications such as Excel.
