VC6 Updates
Google Maps + GPS Automatic Alignment
Select your Point Array or Data Animation Control tool, either containing GPS data, and then open the Google Maps tool. In the example shown below, we have a Point Array selected. The Point Array was created with GPS data.
The Google Maps window will open with a rectangular bounding box drawn to enclose all of your GPS points. With the rectangular selection enabled, you can also control the zoom level (generally the higher the better quality) and maximum number of image tiles to use for your scene.
As always, use the corner control grips to resize and reposition the bounding box. The default bounding box is configured to enclose all GPS data from the previously selected asset.
If you do not want to take advantage of the tile import option, you can simply left-click on the rectangular selection icon. This will instead place the displayed image directly into your scene.
You can refine your selection of imagery, in order to find an optimal compromise between level of detail and VRAM usage, by using the polygonal selection option. Simply left-click on the polygonal selection icon, then (like a polyline) left-click to begin defining your region of interest. Hold+left-click and drag on any of the white dot control grips to adjust the shape of your selection.
Finally, left-click the save button to begin downloading the image tiles.
Your single image or group object of tiles will then be placed into your scene, automatically aligned with your GPS assets.
Upcoming In-Person Training Opportunities
Create even larger, ultra-high-resolution, crash diagrams!
When you enable the “custom size” feature (render method: current only) in the animation menu, you can now create TIF images up to 200,000 x 200,000 pixels in size. By enabling the “show boundaries” feature, you can view the area that will be printed to the file, with blue zones excluded. The full vertical extent displayed will always print to your file. The printable horizontal extent will automatically adjust as you change the height-to-width aspect ratio of your image using the “width” and “height” settings.
Import Large .tiff Files
You can now import tiff images larger than 1 GB or saved in BigTIFF format.
