When I render from within the occupant cabin it is difficult to see due to reflections or glare. How can I eliminate this effect?

Disabling internal reflections is easy. Below we review two methods for accomplishing this.

Method 1 | VC5 Users | Modify glass material properties

Glass material pre-defined: If the vehicle already has glass material defined in the material menu, lower the opacity value and lower the reflection value (or disable the reflection toggle). You may also wish to disable “use reflection texture” to eliminate the cloud texture map visibility. See the User’s Guide (VC5) for more detail on material settings. On the left below we see internal reflections. On the right the reflections are removed.

Glass material not pre-defined: (1) First switch to elements selection type (Shift+E). (2) Left-click on the windows. (3) Open the material menu, left-click “new”. Specify the glass material properties as needed. See the User’s Guide (VC5) for more detail on material settings.

METHOD 2 | VC4 and VC3 USERS | DISABLE Reflections BY MODIFYING THE SHADER FILE

For VC4 and VC3 users, if reflections must be removed, this can only be accomplished by brute force. Go to your installation area of Virtual CRASH, and locate the /data directory. There you’ll find the file “default.shd.” Make a copy of this file and save it with a different name in case you want to switch back to the default settings. Open the file and find the shader defined for “glass”.

Next, change the “DIFFUSE” setting to the values below.

Restart Virtual CRASH and reload your scene. You will now see internal reflections removed. This will process will also eliminate the cloud texture map reflections.
